This talk will be held as part of the exhibition “In Situ: Photo Stories on Migration” (19.6.–3.10.2021) at Museum Ludwig, Cologne

Private photographs and their stories narrated by their makers and protagonists are placed at the center of the exhibition In Situ, through which a new public as well as curatorial context is given to the photographing practices of migrant workers in Cologne and other cities in the Rhineland. In her talk, co-curator Ela Kaçel will highlight some key conceptual questions regarding the localization and place-related memories of migration via the photographs and memory images of the protagonists that are presented in the exhibition.
