Gülsün Karamustafa will speak about her artistic experiences as well her involvement in teaching during the last decades of the 20th Century that she witnessed and its continuation.
She will narrate the history of a country where the unstable educational systems continuously change related to the tendencies of the ruling government, her first involvement with art and also her years in the Academy of Fine Arts in Istanbul she graduated from, that was established during the Ottoman Empire in 1883.
The influences of the 68 movement that started from Paris and how its consequences effected the lives of the students in other ends of the world, as well as her journey as an artist after 2000 and how she continued with teaching involved with seminars and workshops internationally keeping up a more dynamic relationship with her the students, will be a part of this presentation.

Graduated from the Istanbul State Fine Arts Academy in 1969.
Lives and works in Istanbul. She participated in the International Istanbul Biennials (1987, 1992, 1995); Kwangju (2000); Havana and Cetinje (2003); Seville Biennial (2004); Guangzhou Triennial, Cairo Biennial (2008); Singapore Biennial (2011), Kiev Biennale (2012), Thessaloniki Biennale (2013); Sao Paulo and Gwangju Biennial (2014). Her works included in the collections of Nationalgalerie Hamburger Bahnhof, Berlin, Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, Museum Ludwig Cologne, Museum of Modern Art Warsaw, Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, MUMOK, Museum Moderner Kunst Stiftung Ludwig Vienna, Tate Modern London, Guggenheim Museum New York, Van Abbe Museum Eindhoven, Istanbul Modern among others. Gülsün Karamustafa has received the Prince Claus Award from the Netherlands in
2014 and the Roswitha Haftmann Prize from Switzerland in 2021.

Ein Bildungssystem mit ständigen Interventionen
Gülsün Karamustafa wird über ihre künstlerischen Erfahrungen und ihr Engagement in der Lehre in den letzten Jahrzehnten des 20. Jahrhunderts sprechen. Sie wird von der Geschichte eines Landes erzählen, in dem sich das instabile Bildungssystem in Abhängigkeit von den Tendenzen der herrschenden Regierung ständig ändert, von ihrer ersten Beschäftigung mit Kunst und von ihren Jahren an der Akademie der Schönen Künste in Istanbul, die 1883 während des Osmanischen Reiches gegründet wurde. Die Einflüsse der 68er-Bewegung, die von Paris ausging, und wie sich deren Folgen auf das Leben der Studenten in anderen Teilen der Welt auswirkten, sowie ihre Reise als Künstlerin nach 2000 und wie sie ihre Lehrtätigkeit mit Seminaren und Workshops auf internationaler Ebene fortsetzte und eine dynamischere Beziehung zu ihren Studenten aufrechterhielt, werden ebenfalls ein Teil ihrer Präsentation sein.

Erhielt ihren Abschluss an der Staatlichen Akademie der Schönen Künste in Istanbul 1969.
Lebt und arbeitet in Istanbul. Sie nahm an folgenden internationalen Biennalen teil: Istanbul (1987, 1992, 1995); Kwangju (2000); Havanna und Cetinje (2003); Sevilla Biennale (2004); Guangzhou Triennale, Kairo Biennale (2008); Singapur Biennale (2011), Kiew Biennale (2012), Thessaloniki Biennale (2013); Sao Paulo und Gwangju Biennale (2014). Ihre Werke sind unter anderem in den Sammlungen der Nationalgalerie Hamburger Bahnhof, Berlin, des Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, des Museum Ludwig Köln, des Museum of Modern Art Warschau, des Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, des MUMOK, des Museum Moderner Kunst Stiftung Ludwig Wien, der Tate Modern London, des Guggenheim Museum New York, des Van Abbe Museum Eindhoven und des Istanbul Modern vertreten. Gülsün Karamustafa erhielt den Prince Claus Award aus den Niederlanden in
2014 und den Roswitha Haftmann-Preis der Schweiz 2021.
